Hiver

« Tant pis si le froid me démembre
Je fleurirai même en décembre
Et que me comprennent les fous »

Winter

The first snow came on of October the 27th, but it was exceptional. It disappeared at once.

Snow came back on December the 7th, and now early winter is really installed. This did not keep those who live in Lyon and around from celebrating the 8th of December. On this link, you will find full information (in French!) about the origin of this tradition.

And you will find a lot of photos here.

It is a religious and / or family and / or commercial feast.

There was the Christmas market at Crémieu and Sébastien invited us to visit it. It was nice to be there.

It was sympathetic in spite of the cold.

I did not know the artists working with bicycle chains, it is a pleasant discovery!

The style of these shaped figurines, that were placed in natural settings, is very different!

The photo comes from the artist’s site.

A giant came with a woman blowing soap bubbles and making animal with balloons.

Dancers (dressed with pink and black) did not feel the cold!

We warmed up at the brewery. Sébastien started the guided tour (yes, my photo of him is blurry, but I didn’t want to disturb neither him, nor the visitors who were listening! I didn’t want to make other!).

We came to the oven of Bachelin where we were invited. And we eated in Claude and Brigitte’s home.

Today, December 11th, I thought to tell you also Lyon, and the snow that I went to photograph for you (it was cold, 1 degree, – 6 degrees because of North wind). It’s very long to write, to translate, and to put photos. And if I write too long chronicles… you will not have time enough to read them!

I finish on a surprising note that put into my head a song from Anne Sylvestre (this is work for Janet !).

« Never mind if cold dismembers me
I will bloom even on December
And crazy people can understand. »

    Thank you Loïc.
What would be nice : to write our comment… in Esperanto?
