\nChristopher and I have chosen months in advance the date of the concert of Les Trois Becs. And of course we had not noticed that it was the Easter Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

J\u2019ai eu bien des inqui\u00e9tudes, \u00e0 mesure que les invit\u00e9s donnaient une r\u00e9ponse n\u00e9gative. Alors qu\u2019en s\u2019entassant on peut \u00eatre quarante dans la salle \u00e0 manger, je comptais une bonne vingtaine de d\u00e9sistements parmi les habitu\u00e9es.
\nI had many worries, as the guests gave a negative answer. While in crowding we can be forty in the dining room, I counted two dozen withdrawals among the accustomed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Il s\u2019agissait du dixi\u00e8me spectacle, et du huiti\u00e8me concert, puisque nous avons organis\u00e9 aussi une soir\u00e9e th\u00e9\u00e2tre et une soir\u00e9e contes. J\u2019ai la nette impression\u00a0 qu\u2019il va y avoir du changement \u00e0 l\u2019avenir\u00a0: jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, je n\u2019ai jamais eu \u00e0 refuser du monde, mais maintenant qu\u2019un solide noyau d\u2019amateurs s\u2019est constitu\u00e9, et que mon fichier d\u2019adresses s\u2019\u00e9toffe…
\nIt was the tenth show, and the eighth concert, since we have also organized a theater show and a storytelling one. I really feel that there will be change in the future: so far I’ve never had to turn people away, but now there is a significant group of regulars, and my mailing list is expanding …<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nFor the concert of Les Trois Becs, we were finally a lot and really tight … When everyone was there, there was no more room for dancing. Or even for walking. Barely for breathing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cette soir\u00e9e \u00e9tait plus particuli\u00e8rement plac\u00e9e sous le signe de l\u2019amiti\u00e9, mais ne le sont-elles pas toutes\u00a0?
\nThis evening was especially under the sign of friendship, but aren\u2019t they all?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pour revoir l\u2019ami Christopher, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne et Alain ont fait une bien longue route, et sont arriv\u00e9s charg\u00e9s de bouteilles et de victuailles. Ils n\u2019\u00e9taient pas les seuls\u00a0! Encore une fois, le buffet a \u00e9t\u00e9 impressionnant.

Cela fait maintenant plus de deux ans que je prends des cours de chant, et cette fois Margot m\u2019a encourag\u00e9e \u00e0 chanter en public. Apr\u00e8s mon habituel petit discours, j\u2019ai interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 \u201centre l\u2019amour et l\u2019amiti\u00e9\u201d de Henri Tachan, accompagn\u00e9e au piano par Magali\u00a0: je suis tr\u00e8s heureuse d\u2019avoir su mettre en pratique ce que j\u2019ai appris gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Margot et Magali que je remercie encore. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 un grand moment pour moi. Le public s\u2019est montr\u00e9 encourageant.
\nIt\u2019s now over two years since I take singing lessons, and now Margot encouraged me to sing in public. After my usual little speech, I interpreted \u201centre l\u2019amour et l\u2019amiti\u00e9\u201d from Henri Tachan. Magali accompanied me on the piano. I am very happy to have been able to practice what I learned with Margot and Magali, and I thank both of them once more. This was a great moment for me. The public was encouraging.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mais j\u2019ai bien vite laiss\u00e9 la place aux Trois Becs\u00a0: \u00e0 Claire Guerrieri (pour le chant), Robert Bianchi (pour le chant et la guitare) et Christopher Murray (pour le chant, le piano, la guitare).
\nBut I soon let room to Les Trois Becs: Claire Guerrieri (for singing), Robert Bianchi (for vocals and guitar) and Christopher Murray (for vocals, piano, guitar).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLa Centi\u00e8me Nuit\u201d – ainsi que tout le r\u00e9cital des Trois Becs – ce sont des chansons d\u2019Anne Sylvestre. La Centi\u00e8me Nuit est aussi le titre d\u2019une de ces chansons, une histoire, presque une \u00e9pop\u00e9e, pleine de fantaisie. Chapeau en main, les com\u00e9diens-chanteurs, ou inversement, comme ils se d\u00e9finissent, donnent le ton.
\n\u201cLa Centi\u00e8me Nuit\u201d – and all the recital of Les Trois Becs – these are songs of Anne Sylvestre. La Centi\u00e8me Nuit is also the title of one of these songs, a story, almost an epic, full of fantasy. Hat in hand, the actors-singers, or vice versa, as they define themselves, set the tone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les chansons se succ\u00e8dent, parfois tragiques, parfois dr\u00f4les, tr\u00e8s vari\u00e9es, avec pourtant la griffe de leur auteure. Cependant, pour \u00eatre honn\u00eate, je ne suis pas certaine de retrouver Anne Sylvestre \u00e0 coup s\u00fbr si l\u2019on me faisait \u00e9couter toute une s\u00e9rie de chansons sans savoir qui les a \u00e9crites.
\nThe songs follow each other, sometimes tragic, sometimes funny, very varied, yet with the specifc\u00a0characteristics of their author. However, to be honest, I’m not sure to find Anne Sylvestre for sure if I were listening a variety of songs without knowing who wrote them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

J\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 frapp\u00e9e par l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation th\u00e9\u00e2trale que Claire a propos\u00e9e, de \u201cla femme du vent\u201d par exemple. Longs silences et visage tortur\u00e9, l\u2019\u00e9motion est intense. \u201cRose\u201d aussi est une trag\u00e9die, une de ces histoires de gens simples que la vie a d\u00e9vor\u00e9s.
\nClaire gave us an intense emotion interpreting \u201cla femme du vent\u201d, for example. Long silences and tortured face, the audience is captivated. \u201cRose\u201d is also a tragedy, one of the stories of simple people that life has devoured.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ces quelques mots, choisis, pas au hasard, cette phrase si br\u00e8ve sur laquelle on peut longuement disserter, c\u2019est tout Anne Sylvestre, sa formulation originale, son talent pour trouver le mot juste, pour planter une existence en quelques mots.

\nAnne has necessarily known, like me, the boredom of this teaching of silly songs but heritage yada yada yada, and that we are obliged to learn! She has rewritten in her own way \u201cah dis-moi donc berg\u00e8re\u201d that became \u201cberg\u00e8re\u201d (\u00ab\u00a0shepherdess\u00a0\u00bb), Christopher and Robert reappropriated it in their turn.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Je parlais d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation th\u00e9atrale\u00a0: Robert et Christopher, derri\u00e8re des masques grotesques, s\u2019en donnent \u00e0 c\u0153ur joie. J\u2019esp\u00e8re que quand Anne elle-m\u00eame a assist\u00e9 \u00e0 ce spectacle, elle a particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 le caract\u00e8re caricatural bien appuy\u00e9 de l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de sa \u201cberg\u00e8re\u201d\u00a0! Ce fut un grand moment et je pense que dans le public chacun rit encore tout seul en repensant \u00e0 cette interpr\u00e9tation burlesque.
\nI talked about theatrical interpretation: Robert and Christopher, behind grotesque masks, have a great time. I hope that when Anne herself attended this show, she particularly enjoyed the cartoonish character well supported interpretation of her \u201cberg\u00e8re\u201d! It was a great moment and I think everyone in the audience laughed again thinking back to this burlesque interpretation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Toutes les chansons \u00e9taient bel et bien \u00e9crites par la Grande Dame, m\u00eame si la diversit\u00e9 de styles et de th\u00e8mes rend cela difficile \u00e0 croire parfois. Tout en interpr\u00e9tant avec finesse et justesse l\u2019\u0153uvre d\u2019Anne Sylvestre, nos trois lascars se sont bien amus\u00e9s. Le concert comportait aussi quelques textes parl\u00e9s – parmi lesquels une liste hallucinante de synonymes des mots \u201cfemme\u201d et \u201chomme\u201d, essayez vous verrez, le sexe dit \u201cfaible\u201d est encore une fois vraiment d\u00e9consid\u00e9r\u00e9.
\nAll the songs were indeed written by the Grande Dame, although the diversity of styles and themes makes this hard to believe sometimes. Our three fellows interpreted with\u00a0fineness and precision Anne Sylvestre’s work, and they also had very good time. The concert also included some spoken texts – among them an amazing list of synonyms of the words \u201cfemme\u201d and \u201chomme\u201d, try you will appreciate, the sex that is said low is really once more discredited.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nJe l\u2019entends encore chanter \u00e0 la jubilation de R\u00e9mo Gary \u201c\u00e9crire pour ne pas mourir\u201d\u00a0: encore une fois, tr\u00e8s peu de mots sont lourds de sens.

J\u2019ai eu l\u2019occasion deux ou trois fois d\u2019\u00e9changer quelques mots avec elle, mais pas au point d\u2019\u00eatre connue d\u2019elle. Quand j\u2019ai r\u00e9dig\u00e9 une lettre de motivation pour participer \u00e0 un stage d\u2019\u00e9criture de chants avec Anne, je n\u2019avais pas de raison de faire allusion \u00e0 nos br\u00e8ves rencontres.
\nI had the opportunity a couple of times to exchange a few words with her, but not enough for her to know me. When I wrote a letter to participate to a song writing workshop with Anne, I had no reason to refer to our brief encounters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le lendemain du concert des Trois Becs, j\u2019ai appris que ma candidature est retenue, j\u2019en suis enchant\u00e9e. Rencontrer Anne Sylvestre, non pas en tant que public s\u2019adressant \u00e0 une artiste, mais dans le cadre d\u2019un projet commun me r\u00e9jouit d\u2019avance.
