Revenus de chez mon p\u00e8re, on a recommenc\u00e9 \u00e0 arroser le jardin dont Jacques et P\u00e4ivi se sont gentiment occup\u00e9s pendant notre absence. J\u2019essayais de faire ma part le plus t\u00f4t possible, une fois m\u00eame au lever du jour, car d\u00e8s huit heures cela devenait trop p\u00e9nible. Apr\u00e8s cela, ne rien faire, ne pas se donner d\u2019obligation, profiter de ce qui nous restait, une pi\u00e8ce moins chaude que l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur.<\/strong>
Tout le monde autour de nous a d\u00e9test\u00e9 cette p\u00e9riode, moi aussi. J\u2019ai retrouv\u00e9 des ressentis de l\u2019\u00e9poque des confinements contre le covid. Mais la chaleur n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 une d\u00e9cision gouvernementale \u00e0 la fois absurde, autoritaire et sans nuance.<\/strong>

I could write pages and pages just with the books suggested by J\u00e9r\u00f4me (to whom of course we also offer our favorites). He lent us \u00ab Porca miseria \u00bb by Tonino Benacquista, a writer best known for his crime novels!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Voici donc quelques mots sur cette autobiographie pleine d\u2019humour et tr\u00e8s sensible, une belle exp\u00e9rience de lectrice.<\/strong>
\u00ab Porca miseria \u00bb, c\u2019est ce que r\u00e9p\u00e8te sans cesse le p\u00e8re de Tonino. Il a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de venir faire fortune en France et ce r\u00eave ne s\u2019est pas r\u00e9alis\u00e9. Le petit Tonino a grandi entre un p\u00e8re alcoolique et une m\u00e8re d\u00e9pressive. Ce n\u2019est pas dr\u00f4le \u00e0 vivre, c\u2019est un r\u00e9gal \u00e0 lire. L\u2019approche de la litt\u00e9rature n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 facile \u00e0 ce futur \u00e9crivain ! Il \u00e9tait bloqu\u00e9 d\u00e8s les premiers mots d\u2019un roman. Il faut voir avec quelle pertinence (ou impertinence ?) il analyse la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre formule de Boileau \u00ab Ce qui se con\u00e7oit bien s\u2019\u00e9nonce clairement et les mots pour le dire arrivent ais\u00e9ment. \u00bb<\/em><\/strong>

Il suffit d\u2019un seul f\u00e2cheux (\u2026) pour clouer le bec \u00e0 tout un peuple (\u2026). Ma famille et moi sommes de ce peuple qui prend le baratin pour de la faconde, les phrases toutes faites pour de la r\u00e9partie, les poncifs pour du bon sens, les jeux de mots faciles pour des traits d\u2019esprit et le caf\u00e9 du commerce pour du d\u00e9bat public. \u00bb<\/strong><\/em>
Here are a few words about this humorous and very sensitive autobiography, a great experience as a reader.<\/span><\/strong>
\u00ab Porca miseria \u00bb is what Tonino’s father keeps repeating. He decided to come and make his fortune in France and this dream did not come true. Little Tonino grew up between an alcoholic father and a depressed mother. It’s not funny to live, it’s a treat to read. The approach to literature was not easy for this future writer! He was blocked from the first words of a novel. You have to see with what relevance (or impertinence?) he analyzes Boileau’s famous formula \u00ab What is well conceived is clearly stated and the words to say it come easily. \u00bb<\/em><\/span><\/strong>

\u00ab I didn’t wait for Boileau to understand, at the school of the street, that the one who imposes himself in a discussion is not the man of good faith but the one who speaks loudly and never hesitates in his argument (\u2026). Le sacril\u00e8ge ne reste pas longtemps impuni. \u00bb<\/em> Dans son livre, il est pourtant questions de \u00ab racines, d\u2019exil, de patrie, de diaspora, d\u2019atavisme, de g\u00eanes, d\u2019h\u00e9ritage, de guerre, de fascisme, de r\u00e9sistance au fascisme, de religion, de miracles, du Vatican, du sacr\u00e9 \u00bb<\/em>, et, comme le d\u00e9plore l\u2019auteur, la seule controverse qu\u2019il suscite r\u00e9side dans une cuiller\u00e9e de cr\u00e8me fra\u00eeche.<\/strong>
The author manages to always place a cooking recipe in his books. In the spaghetti alla carbonara, he puts fresh cream \u00ab for the stupid reason that this is how it is served, in France (…). Sacrilege does not go unpunished for long<\/em><\/span>\u00bb<\/span><\/em>. In his book, however, there are questions of \u00ab roots, exile, homeland, diaspora, atavism, genes, heritage, war, fascism, resistance to fascism, religion, miracles, of the Vatican, of the sacred, \u00bb<\/em> and, as the author laments, the only controversy he arouses lies in a dollop of fresh cream.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Autre fa\u00e7on de sugg\u00e9rer des lectures, J\u00e9r\u00f4me nous a mis entre les mains le catalogue d\u2019un libraire, un ouvrage tr\u00e8s bien fait, qui donne envie de d\u00e9couvrir tous les titres qu\u2019il pr\u00e9sente : on a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 se contr\u00f4ler un tout petit peu. Par ce catalogue, on a d\u00e9couvert Claudie Hunzinger, dont on a d\u2019abord lu \u00ab La Survivance \u00bb : un couple de libraires est expuls\u00e9, j\u2019ai d\u2019abord craint le r\u00e9cit d\u2019un drame, mais Jenny et Sils ont de la ressource (autant le dire : \u00ab La Survivance \u00bb) et ils ne se retrouvent pas \u00e0 la rue. C\u2019est un livre \u00e9rudit et de contemplation, plein d\u2019un amour infini pour les livres et aussi des deux personnages l\u2019un pour l\u2019autre.<\/strong>
Another way of suggesting readings, J\u00e9r\u00f4me gave us the catalog of a bookseller, a very well done work, which makes you want to discover all the titles it presents: we managed to control ourselves a little bit. Through this catalog, we discovered Claudie Hunzinger, of whom we first read \u00ab La Survivance \u00bb: a couple of booksellers are expelled, I first feared the story of a tragedy, but Jenny and Sils have resource (might as well say: \u00ab La Survivance \u00bb) and they don’t end up on the street. It is an erudite and contemplative book, full of an infinite love for books and also of the two characters for each other.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Jenny raconte comment deux hommes viennent un jour livrer un kit solaire. L\u2019un des deux voit en passant un titre du Monde \u00e9voquant le manque de professeurs, alors il raconte : il est originaire du Gabon o\u00f9 il enseignait le fran\u00e7ais, il aimait \u00e7a, mais en France ce n\u2019est plus possible car il n\u2019a pas obtenu la nationalit\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise. Il pr\u00e9cise : souvent les gens appellent les gendarmes quand les livreurs sonnent \u00e0 leur porte. Et Jenny de conclure : \u00ab C\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e7a la triste condition de livreurs africains perdus en Europe. \u00bb<\/em><\/strong>
As for Tonino’s book, I quote details, they are not the central theme of the book, I noted them because they affect me.<\/span><\/strong>
Jenny tells how two men come one day to deliver a solar kit. One of the two sees in passing a title of Le Monde evoking the lack of teachers, so he says: he is from Gabon where he taught French, he liked it, but in France it is no longer possible because he did not obtain French nationality. He clarifies: often people call the gendarmes when the delivery men ring their doorbell. And Jenny concludes: \u00ab That was the sad condition of African delivery men lost in Europe. \u00bb<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

In this house far from everything, in the middle of the mountains in the Vosges, Jenny observes wild animals every day. \u00ab I had learned that mutual aid between animals is a more important factor in evolution than competition, \u00bb<\/em> she says. I believe that Darwin himself was aware of it, it is easier to talk about his work by forgetting the mutual aid that he nevertheless observed in nature.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Do not believe that life at La Survivance is a long, quiet and syrupy river. Claudie Hunzinger’s writing is realistic, even if her characters experience rather unusual situations.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Et pour ce qui est des situations hors du commun, quand Claudie raconte son existence \u00e0 elle, on n\u2019en manque pas\u00a0! \u00ab\u00a0Bambois la vie verte\u00a0\u00bb, \u00e9dit\u00e9 il y a cinquante ans et r\u00e9-\u00e9dit\u00e9 cette ann\u00e9e, est autobiographique. Avant mai 68, avant le fameux \u00ab\u00a0retour \u00e0 la terre\u00a0\u00bb qui fut un grand mouvement des ann\u00e9es 70 en France, Claudie et Francis Hunzinger s\u2019installent dans les Vosges avec un troupeau de moutons en 1965. Ils ont fait \u00e7a comme toi tu dis \u00ab\u00a0je boirais bien quelque chose\u00a0\u00bb et sit\u00f4t dit sit\u00f4t fait. Pas de longue pr\u00e9paration m\u00eame si Francis a appris le m\u00e9tier de berger \u00e0 Rambouillet. Ce livre est bas\u00e9 sur les notes prises au jour le jour, et que Claudie a assembl\u00e9es comme un v\u00eatement d\u2019Arlequin.<\/strong>
Tr\u00e8s vite, ils d\u00e9cident de se lancer dans le tissage pour \u00e9viter d\u2019\u00e9lever des animaux pour leur viande. Mais en tissage, ils savent \u00e0 peine distinguer le fil de cha\u00eene du fil de trame. Ils inventent, ils d\u00e9couvrent, ils arpentent la montagne et apprennent \u00e0 faire des teintures avec les plantes r\u00e9colt\u00e9es comme le lichen ou les myrtilles.<\/strong>
\u00ab\u00a0Il ne s\u2019agit pas de faire de la litt\u00e9rature mais de porter t\u00e9moignage\u00a0\u00bb pr\u00e9cise \u00ab\u00a0Stonehenge\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, Pierre Schoentjes. Et c\u2019est bien comme \u00e7a que j\u2019ai lu ce livre, o\u00f9 l\u2019on saute d\u2019un incident \u00e0 l\u2019autre sans encha\u00eenement recherch\u00e9.<\/strong>
And when it comes to unusual situations, when Claudie talks about her own life, there’s no shortage of them! \u00ab\u00a0Bambois la vie verte\u00a0\u00bb, published fifty years ago and re-published this year, is autobiographical. Before May 68, before the famous \u00ab\u00a0return to the land\u00a0\u00bb which was a great movement of the 70s in France, Claudie and Francis Hunzinger settled in the Vosges with a herd of sheep in 1965. They did it like you say \u00ab\u00a0I would like something to drink\u00a0\u00bb and no sooner said than done. No long preparation even if Francis learned the trade of shepherd in Rambouillet. This book is based on the notes taken day by day, and which Claudie has assembled like a Harlequin garment.<\/span><\/strong>
Very quickly, they decide to start weaving to avoid raising animals for their meat. But in weaving, they barely know how to distinguish the warp thread from the weft thread. They invent, they discover, they survey the mountains and learn to make dyes with harvested plants such as lichen or blueberries.<\/span><\/strong>
\u00ab\u00a0It is not a question of making literature but of bearing witness\u00a0\u00bb specifies \u00ab\u00a0Stonehenge\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, Pierre Schoentjes. And that’s how I read this book, where we jump from one incident to another without any desired sequence.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
