After buying tons of books, visiting the garden festival and chatting with Jean-Yves Meignen, then with Anne and Martine, we returned to Forcalquier for the Monday market. The city was packed with people, it took us a very long time to find a place for the car, and another five minutes on foot to reach the first stalls, but we managed to go around once again.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

En arrivant sur la place, il y a foule d\u2019enfants \u00e0 qui on recommande de bien regarder partout.<\/strong>
Picnic on a bench enjoying the beautiful view over the plain of the Durance. A short stroll along the unmissable Chemin des \u00c9v\u00eaques. On the way back, crossing the village again, I find two abandoned Easter eggs…well, not quite, the egg hunt hasn’t started yet…<\/span><\/strong>
Arriving on the square, there are crowds of children who are recommended to take a good look everywhere.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Le lendemain, nous visitons le march\u00e9 de Banon, o\u00f9 Paul trouve mes bonbons au miel favoris – toujours les m\u00eames rituels. Suivis de\u2026 mais de quoi\u00a0? Une visite au Bleuet bien s\u00fbr\u00a0! Et comme le Contadour, c\u00e9l\u00e8bre gr\u00e2ce aux \u00e9crits et \u00e0 l\u2019existence de Giono, se trouve \u00e0 distance raisonnable, cap sur le Contadour ! <\/strong>
The next day, we visit the Banon market, where Paul finds my favorite honey candies – always the same rituals. Followed by…but what? A visit to Le Bleuet of course! And as the Contadour, famous thanks to the writings and the existence of Giono, is at a reasonable distance, heading for the Contadour!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Ce sera une d\u00e9ception (malgr\u00e9 cet autocollant que je n\u2019avais jamais vu en japonais, s\u2019il s\u2019agit bien de japonais\u00a0!). Paul a lu quelque part que la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 o\u00f9 se sont r\u00e9unis si longtemps Giono et ses amis a \u00e9t\u00e9 vendue. Pas l\u2019ombre d\u2019une plaque comm\u00e9morative pour l\u2019homme qui conserve pourtant dans la r\u00e9gion une bonne notori\u00e9t\u00e9 (un peu plus je pense que dans le reste du pays, m\u00eame s\u2019il est un auteur universel).<\/strong>
It will be a disappointment (despite that sticker which I had never seen in Japanese, if it is indeed Japanese!). Paul has read somewhere that the property where Giono and his friends met for so long has been sold. Not the shadow of a commemorative plaque for the man who nevertheless retains a good reputation in the region (a little more I think than in the rest of the country, even if he is a universal author).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Au retour, j\u2019essaie de photographier le labyrinthe de cheminements, mais de quels animaux\u00a0?, sur le versant d\u2019en face. Puis ce ch\u00eane \u00e0 la sym\u00e9trie remarquable.<\/strong>
On the way back, I try to photograph the maze of paths, but what animals?, on the opposite slope. Then this oak tree with its remarkable symmetry.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Il est temps de retourner au g\u00eete, de manger, de voir si on a bien tout pr\u00e9vu pour l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de nos visiteurs, avec qui nous \u00e9changeons des textos \u00e0 mesure que leur trajet se d\u00e9roule. Leur voyage s\u2019est bien pass\u00e9, ils arrivent comme pr\u00e9vu, nous bavardons un moment puis en route vers la montagne de Lure\u00a0!<\/strong>
Quelque part dans la mont\u00e9e, des panneaux barrent la route, laissant un petit passage, mais le sens interdit est bien visible. Bien visible aussi l\u2019information\u00a0: travaux du 18 au 28 avril\u2026 Heureusement, Jacques nous fait remarquer que nous ne sommes pas encore le 18\u2026 alors nous passons pour aller jusqu\u2019au sommet de la montagne o\u00f9 nous ne verrons personne, si ce n\u2019est deux marcheurs dans le lointain.<\/strong>
It is time to return to the lodge, to eat, to see if we have everything planned for the arrival of our visitors, with whom we exchange text messages as their journey unfolds. Their trip went well, they arrive as expected, we chat for a while and then off to the Lure mountain!<\/span><\/strong>
Somewhere in the climb, signs block the road, leaving a small passage, but the forbidden direction is clearly visible. Clearly visible also the information: works from April 18 to 28… Fortunately, Jacques points out that we are not yet on the 18th… so we pass to go to the top of the mountain where we will not see anyone, if not are two walkers in the distance.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Since we’ve been renting out cottage all over the place, this is the first time we’ve had guests! P\u00e4ivi and Jacques were enthusiastic about coming \u00ab\u00a0to our house\u00a0\u00bb for a brief stay in an area they hardly know.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Dans le sous-sol autour de Manosque se tiennent de si grandes r\u00e9serves d\u2019hydrocarbures que tous les blocages autour des raffineries n\u2019ont qu\u2019un impact tr\u00e8s mod\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la distribution de carburant. Site vid\u00e9o-surveill\u00e9, photos interdites, je n\u2019ai pas os\u00e9 passer outre. Mais les sites sont tr\u00e8s visibles sur les photos a\u00e9riennes.<\/strong>
I jump back in time for a piece of news that is extraordinary to me: we have just learned of the existence of \u00ab\u00a0strategic hydrocarbon reserves\u00a0\u00bb, use these words if you search the web. In the subsoil around Manosque are held such large reserves of hydrocarbons that all the blockages around the refineries have only a very moderate impact on the distribution of fuel. Video-monitored site, photos prohibited, I did not dare ignore it. But the sites are very visible on aerial photos.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Bien entendu je vous raconterai la suite de nos aventures tranquilles, \u00e0 quatre, puis de nouveau \u00e0 deux. Nous nous sentons bien dans cette r\u00e9gion, pas trop touristique, et o\u00f9 les gens sont le plus souvent souriants. Y reviendrons-nous encore et encore?
