Ceux qui connaissent notre ann\u00e9e de naissance ont trouv\u00e9 plus facilement la solution de l\u2019\u00e9nigme. The hardest part was choosing: who to invite, who not to invite. On what criteria would we eliminate the very many people we wanted to see? We had to limit ourselves to about twenty friends, even if our dining room is large… So we had a list of non-invitations much longer than that of invitations… And that’s how we proposed to a few people to come to our house to celebrate the 190th. Those who know our year of birth have found the solution to the riddle more easily. Paul and I are both seventy years old this year, and it’s been fifty years since I came to live with him. Paul wanted to prepare the whole meal, he simmered a beef bourguignon which was a great success. Preceded by a very popular terrine too. Brigitte a trouv\u00e9 dans la liste des morceaux que nous jouons un titre qu\u2019elle conna\u00eet aussi, elle nous a accompagn\u00e9s au violon, apr\u00e8s quoi elle a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 nous accompagner aussi sur des morceaux qu\u2019elle ne conna\u00eet pas. <\/strong>
We managed to get Jean-Paul out of his (very relative) shyness, he sang us a song inspired by the dungeon of Naheulbeuk. Brigitte found in the list of pieces that we play a title that she also knows, she accompanied us on the violin, after which she managed to accompany us also on pieces that she does not know.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

La r\u00e8gle du jeu autorisait \u00e0 tricher, d\u2019ailleurs il n\u2019y avait pas de r\u00e8gle de jeu et rien \u00e0 gagner. On pouvait s\u2019\u00e9changer les enveloppes, bref, cela a mis une belle animation quand il a fallu sortir dans le parc trouver des r\u00e9ponses. Inspired by a game started at Florence and Fran\u00e7ois, we invented a guessing game, each in an envelope, with some clues. If it was one of the trees in the park, the envelope contained a leaf or a twig. The rules of the game allowed cheating, besides there were no rules of the game and nothing to win. We could exchange envelopes, in short, it was a great animation when we had to go out in the park to find answers. Si d\u2019autres r\u00e9gions restent marqu\u00e9es par la s\u00e9cheresse, ici ce n\u2019est plus le cas. Apr\u00e8s une forte pluie, nous pr\u00e9f\u00e9rons retourner vers l’\u00e9tang de la Serre, ou marcher sur la Viarhona pour \u00e9viter les chemins boueux. Nous avons fait quelques sorties raisonnables en v\u00e9lo.<\/strong>

If other regions remain marked by drought, this is no longer the case here. After a heavy rain, we prefer to return to the Etang de la Serre, or walk on the Viarhona to avoid the muddy paths. We did a few reasonable bike rides.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements sans importance marquent l\u2019entr\u00e9e dans l\u2019automne. C\u2019est aussi le d\u00e9but de saison des pots-au-feu. Nous avons invit\u00e9 Lolo, Nanath et Jean-Pierre pour le premier. Mais c\u2019est aussi le d\u00e9but de la \u00ab\u00a0quinzaine anniversaire\u00a0\u00bb de Paul. Comme Lolo et Nanath ne pouvaient pas \u00eatre l\u00e0 le jour J, ils le lui ont souhait\u00e9 la veille. On a eu droit \u00e0 une aubade musicale et Paul s\u2019est vu offrir la superbe maquette d\u2019une \u00ab\u00a0machine \u00e0 billes\u00a0\u00bb qu\u2019il n\u2019a plus qu\u2019\u00e0 monter. Et il adore \u00e7a\u00a0!<\/strong>
These unimportant events mark the beginning of autumn. It is also the start of the pot-au-feu season. We invited Lolo, Nanath and Jean-Pierre for the first. But it’s also the start of Paul’s \u00ab\u00a0fortnight’s birthday.\u00a0\u00bb As Lolo and Nanath couldn’t be there on D-Day, they wished it to him the day before. We were treated to a musical aubade and Paul was offered the superb model of a \u00ab\u00a0ball machine\u00a0\u00bb that he only has to assemble. And he loves it!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Le jour des soixante-dix ans de Paul, nous sommes retourn\u00e9s manger au restaurant d\u2019Arandas o\u00f9 on utilise beaucoup de produits locaux. Les menus sont renouvel\u00e9s chaque mois et proposent des recettes savoureuses, souvent originales. <\/strong>
On Paul’s seventieth birthday, we went back to eat at the restaurant in Arandas, where a lot of local produce is used. The menus are renewed every month and offer tasty, often original recipes.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Le paysage est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent de chez nous \u00e0 seulement une trentaine de kilom\u00e8tres de distance. Il y a beaucoup de for\u00eats et seulement des p\u00e2turages, pas de grands champs comme chez nous. Je souhaite explorer plus en d\u00e9tail la r\u00e9gion. On peut faire de nombreuses balades en for\u00eat.<\/strong>
The landscape is very different from our place, only about thirty kilometers away. There are lots of forests and only pastures, not large fields like ours. I want to explore the area in more detail. You can take many walks in the forest.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

R\u00e9colter des poivrons et des tomates cerise un 7 novembre, c\u2019est \u00e0 peine croyable.<\/strong>
Nothing very original in all that, we are always busy. We will have to think about the frost, bring in the verbena plants, uproot the bulb plants (cannas, dahlias, etc.).<\/span><\/strong>
Harvesting peppers and cherry tomatoes on November 7 is hard to believe.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
